KGO Earns 2023 Great Place to Work Certification™
KGO is proud to be Certified™ by Great Place to Work® for the 2023 year. It is the first time that KGO has been recognized by Great Place to Work®. The prestigious award is based entirely on what current employees say about their experience working at KGO. This year, 100% of employees said it’s a great place to work – 43 percentage points higher than the average U.S. company.
Great Place to Work® is the global authority on workplace culture, employee experience, and the leadership behaviors proven to deliver market-leading revenue, employee retention and increased innovation.
“Great Place to Work Certification™ isn’t something that comes easily – it takes ongoing dedication to the employee experience,” said Sarah Lewis-Kulin, vice president of global recognition at Great Place to Work. “It’s the only official recognition determined by employees’ real-time reports of their company culture. Earning this designation means that KGO is one of the best companies to work for in the country.”
KGO’s CEO Jen Olson and CFO Selva Gunenc are excited and proud to be recognized and certified as a Great Place to Work. Over the past several years, KGO has implemented a variety of programs designed to holistically improve employee well-being. KGO organized their own Day of Service that not only allowed employees to volunteer and give back to their surrounding community but also brought employees closer together amidst a remote-work environment. KGO also has their own Wellness Program that gives employees a monthly spending limit to use on items/subscriptions that would improve their day-to-day life away from the desk. Examples of what KGO employees use their money for are gym memberships, workout equipment, vitamins/supplements, and massages – although the list goes on.
“I have been in the business 42 years, including owning my own company for 15 years. I have never worked in a better company in terms of quality and engagement of our people,” said Vice President of Workplace Management and Operations, Reed Stvan. “I believe a major contributor for our success is the level of true caring and support given to individual. I feel very fortunate to be a part of the KGO team.”
KGO is currently in the process of reimagining the typical people-manager position by implementing a matrix system of managers. Outside of an employee’s direct-report and technical manager, KGO has enlisted several people across the company to serve as a Professional Goals Manager. These managers work with employees and act as their advocate – pushing for their professional growth and making sure they are able to find ways to grow within their current role.
According to Great Place to Work research, job seekers are 4.5 times more likely to find a great boss at a Certified great workplace. Additionally, employees at Certified workplaces are 93% more likely to look forward to coming to work, and are twice as likely to be paid fairly, earn a fair share of the company’s profits and have a fair chance at promotion.
